The National Center for Supercomputing Applications (NCSA) is hosting the 9th LCI International Conference on High-Performance Clustered Computing. This year’s gathering will focus on the technical challenges facing the clustered computing community as we move into the petascale era. We will examine the promise of new technologies such as multi-core processors, acceleration coprocessors, advanced interconnects and high-performance I/O solutions. We will also explore the potential scaling and performance modifications necessary for systems, data and applications to achieve petascale class performance. It will feature experts discussing the state-of-the-art in various aspects of clustered computing including developing the hardware, software environments and applications to reach toward the petascale with a focus on the near-term activities taking this community along that path. This year, vendor participation will highlight the contribution of various companies to the rapidly expanding field of clustered computing.

This conference is the premier international forum to share information on management, administration, and scientific computing techniques on clusters. This 4-day event, including conference and tutorials, will feature a broad range of presentations and papers from HPC and large-scale cluster computing professionals in industry, academia, and government. Speakers will address efforts to integrate and develop science and engineering applications for large-scale clusters, to achieve maximum performance and scalability.

The technical program will include both peer-reviewed paper presentations and discipline- and industry-specific sessions offering researchers and industry leaders the opportunity to present their experiences with applications, tools, user environments, and administration of large-scale clusters. Presentations from industry are specifically invited.

The conference program committee is soliciting novel papers, insightful technical presentations and practical tutorials on a broad range of topics related to systems integration, operation and support, end user applications, tools, education and experiences.

The conference divides sessions into “Introductory”, “Intermediate”, and “Advanced” content to best cater to the breadth of experience of attendees and encourages submissions in all three of these areas. It also features a session on education topics such as the teaching of clustered computing and undergraduate and graduate programs that feature clustered computing. Educators are encouraged to submit papers detailing unique course-level and programmatic-level teaching efforts that they have instituted around growing needs for clustered computing competent graduates.

TUTORIALS
Submission:	Extended: february 1, 2008	You are invited to submit tutorial proposals for consideration by the Program Committee. Tutorials can come from a variety of areas but should provide practical information and/or training for the HPC cluster and the MPP community. Those interested in submitting tutorials for consideration should prepare a 2- to 3-page description. Tutorial proposals must include the Required Accompanying Information. Submissions are being handled by the EDAS system. To submit a tutorial, please go to the EDAS Login for LCI 2008 page and follow the instructions. Technical presentations can come from a variety of areas and will be grouped by similar subject matter in the conference program. Those interested in submitting technical presentations for consideration should prepare a 1- to 3-page abstract. Technical presentation abstract submissions must include the Required Accompanying Information. Submissions are being handled by the EDAS system. To submit a presentation, please go to the EDAS Login for LCI 2008 page and follow the instructions. TECHNICAL BRIEFS
Submission:	March 14, 2008	You are invited to submit a technical brief related to high-performance clustered computing management, integration, or application to solve real-world problems. Proposed technical briefs will be selected by the Program Committee on the basis of a brief description (100 to 300 words) of the work. The 10-15 minute technical presentations will permit conference attendees to be exposed to a wide range of topics. Thus, the technical briefs are an excellent opportunity to convey emerging ideas and new results not sufficiently developed or best suited for a full technical publication. (Note: The full technical paper deadline has passed.) Technical briefs must include the Required Accompanying Information. Submissions are being handled by the EDAS system. Proposed posters will be selected by the Program Committee on the basis of a brief description (100 to 300 words) of the work. A dedicated, scheduled Poster interaction will allow conference attendees to discuss the technical poster displays with presenters in a casual setting. Thus, posters are an excellent opportunity to convey emerging ideas and new results not sufficiently developed for a full technical publication. Also, of very high interest are technical posters focused on production environment implementations which may be too sensitive for a detailed technical paper. Suggested topics of potential interest include but are not limited to: Reliability metrics and measurement techniques New innovations in cluster architectures Parallel and distributed algorithms Performance evaluation, modeling, and workload characterization Software development environments and tools Heterogeneous cluster capabilities and management aspects Scalable visualization and digital processing/rendering via high-performance clusters Poster proposals must include the Required Accompanying Information. STUDENT SUBMISSIONS (Click this link to toggle table open/close)

The conference program committee invites students to submit papers and posters. Papers will be reviewed by the conference peer-reviewing team. The following cash prizes will be awarded: Papers: $1000, $250, and $100 and Posters: $400, $200, and $50, for first, second and third places, respectively.

Students submitting papers must be the first author on the paper and must be willing to attend the conference and present their winning paper. Students submitting posters must be the author and be willing to present their poster at the conference. Topics of interest are listed above, but students are not limited to them.
